Send in the clowns..

This weekend we celebrated Hart's 30th Birthday. I'm sure he will post pictures of the celebrations on his site, but here are a few highlights.

Me, Nick, and Noa...she has changed SO much. She laughs hysterically at Nick...which I can totally relate to.

And...if this whole legal career doesnt work out, I just might run away and join the circus.

Law School Prom

Friday night was Barristers Ball--the swanky celebration that you earn for 3 years of law school--aka Lawschool Prom.

I told Nick we were going, and he was really grumpy about the whole idea. So instead of going, I tricked him into getting all dressed up, and took him to the best Steak House in the tri-state area.

After a wonderful dinner, we still had time to sneak into Barristers Ball for a little while! I'm glad we went, we got to do a little boogie-ing, and actually saw a girl I went to high school with (she was somebody's date). All in all, it was one of those rare nights that you get the best of both worlds. Note: Law school students fall into two categories: those who are incredibly uncoordinated and would never think of embarassing themselves on the dance floor, and those who are incredible uncoordinated and so drunk that they go all out embarassing themselves on the dance floor.

We got a GREAT house!!

Yesterday, our little home passed its first inspection with flying colors. Our inspector had nothing but great things to say, including things like "your house is overbuilt" which really didnt mean whole lot to me, but I've been assured thats a very good thing. Just a few little things like a missing hinge screw on a door...oh, and carpet...and it will be ready for us to move in!

We were surprised and excited to see that since our last visit, the builder decided to remove the porta-potty and put in a pretty little flower bed...

Everything still seems to be on track for a May 5th settlement!

Hizzy. Fo Shizzy.

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!

I repeat

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!

It is truly unbelievable--my head is spinning. Two weeks ago I got a job at the biggest law firm in Calvert County, Davis, Upton & Palumbo . I'll start some time in August--but have no fear, I will be taking off 3 full weeks in October-November to bask in wedded glory.

With that taken care of, we set out to find a nice starter home--little did we know the gem we were about to stumble upon. After spending hours and hours with our wonderful realtor, we stopped at our last house for the day--a colonial under construction on a quiet little street. We walked in and knew this was home.

We made an offer last Saturday, it was accepted on Sunday, and Monday afternoon we were meeting with the builder to pick our carpeting and learn about property lines and grading and all kinds of other homeowner-y things! If all goes well with construction, we will settle on May 5th!!!!!!!!!

Our house is in a little town called Lusby--it's almost exactly halfway between my job and Nick's job which leaves us both with about a 20 minute commute!

Our neighborhood has a beach and a lake in walking distance (so bring your bathing suits, kayaks, canoes, fishing rods...) The best part (besides having our very own place!) is that there is are two new shopping centers going up very close to our house--and in one of them is the BEST donut shop ever. They make fresh, hot, made to order donuts (and bagels too!) in just about any combination you can imagine. Plus, it turns out I know the owners--so we got our first new friends!!

Here are a few pics of the hizzy-- we've got tons of extra room for guests and we hope you will come visit!!!
